River-Bout Station, Hotel " Russia", Embankment

The modern river-bout station was built in 1971 by the project of an architect Kogan Y. The building of the steam navigation administration of "Volgatanker" is distinguished among other buildings in Gorkiy Street. The architect A. Ushekov built this building in 1937.

Classicism was spreading in the USSR at those times and it influenced on the style of the architecture.

Some words about the hotel "Russia". It seems to be a 3* hotel. It is situated in a picturesque place: the view of Volga river, the embankment and the beach. But there are some disadvantages such as small rooms (just tiny), even the lux-rooms, bad breakfasts and nagging receptionists, who let the client's guests enter the hotel in the evenings without great pleasure.

You can walk along the embankment (by the architect N Podovinnikov), pass the garden on the high terrace. It is Strukov's garden which history starts from the beginning of the XIX century.

But we continue our excursion along Ventseka Street up to Revolution square.
