Togliatti Art Museum is the only professional art museum in Togliatti collecting, stocking and studying multitudinous works of art.
Togliatti Art Museum (originally Togliatti Picture Gallery) was opened in 1987 - year when the city celebrated its 250th anniversary.
The two major directions of the museum work are gathering works of art and making exhibitions. At the present time museum collection includes more than 8.000 works of painting, graphic, sculpture, decorative and fine art works. Most of them belong to the second part of the XX c.
Togliatti Art Museum has a cozy lecture-room used for fine arts readings. The museum’s library includes over 1200 books, video and diapositive library – more than 200 exemplars.
In 2005 in the museum was created a board of guardians, with the help of which Togliatti held many interesting exhibitions from leading museums of the country. Among them are “the Northern capital” - an exhibition from St.-Petersburg, “From Dourer up to Goya. Three centuries of the European engravings” - an exhibition from the collection of Irbitsky Fine Arts state museum, Zurab Tsereteli's exhibition (Moscow), “Italian art of the XX century” (Kirov), “An Exhibition of the Chinese artists” (Loyang), an exhibition of the school of S.Andrijaki (Moscow).
